Default Thinking about '05 F4i

Hi people.

I currently own a Yamaha FZ6.
I've had it for just over a year and have put on about 12k miles.

It's a good bike...decent power and comfortable.
However, the suspension is completely unadjustable (except for rear pre-load).

Also, the wife is looking at getting abike too, and I'm considering handing her the FZ6.

Now, I'd like to stay with a sport(y) bike, but think that the riding position of most sport bikes are just too uncomfortable.

Been looking at the F4i, and really like the look, plus it has fully adjustable suspension (no?).

What is it like (comfort wise) compared to something like an R6, Gixxer 600 etc ?

Are there any things I should be aware of ?
Any issues / problems ?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

PS - I've read about the CCT issue, and just hope that IF I have this problem, it'll go away once replaced (like many others have experienced).

I've also read somewhere that the bike gets a little buzzy at highway speeds...is this true ?

I have a 2004 which is the same bike as the 05 i think. I really liked it put about 8,000 miles on it and never had a problem. Comfort really isn't a problem i take 3 or more hour long rides and don't have much pain at all. The highway speed thing i haven't had a problem with i ride at 70 or more with just one hand on the bars and its not problem. The one thing i really didn't like was the tires that came on it. Here in montana it doesn't stay hot enough long enought to heat up the roads a lot so the tires just never seemed to want to hook up all the way. If i was you I would try and find a new 2004 there might be some dealers with some still that will be cheaper than a 05. I don't think they changed anything for 05 on that bike. I hope this helped you out.

The bike is pretty comfortable compared to GSXR,R6. Only problems I know of are cct taking a shit and rear seat/fender cracking ('01-03) so the bike is pretty damn straight. If you decide to buy it you definitely won't be disappointed with the whole package. The fully adjsutable suspension is the shnizzle when doing track days, but is just a bit soft when really pushing it.As far as tires,I had the Dunlop D207 when new then bought Pirelli Diablos. Definitely like Pirelli Diablos better than D207s.The bike might come with Michelin Pilots or Dunlops I think. Hope the info helps!!

I bought an 04 f4i and liked it till about 5000 miles... then I changed out the stock grars to a 3 to 1 ratio and I still love it... went from baltimore to miami in 2 days for the new year... chilled for the first and drove back all solo. I can't lie, I'm 6'3 170 lbs and I know guys that ride harleys, and honda dressers that called me crazy... it's alot of wear on your neck.. and your chest feels like you've been punched a few times from resting on the tank for so long... but other than that you won't find a more comfortable bike on the planet. the only thing basically that changed on the 05 is weight reduction.

LOVE my 04, I am 6'3" and 240 LBS and it is more comfortable than my 85 nighthawk was. Great bike, I was going to get an 05 but didn't care too much for the color options so the dealer cut me a great deal on a black and red 04.

I have the 04 f4i also. Absolutly love it. No complaints at all. Haven't found reason to ever want to get rid of this bike yet.
