Question Adapt F4i for Spool Stand

Does everyone with an F4i use a universal stand, or has anyone adapted their bike to add spools? I'd prefer to use a spool stand, but I'm not too happy about the thought of drilling holes in the swingarm to install spools.

You can always weld some on if you don't want to drill.

I drilled the swingarm for spools 2 years ago. I've had no issues whatsoever and recommend it.

My reluctance to drill is due to not wanting to weaken the swingarm by putting an 8mm hole in a weak spot. Does anyone with an F4i have pics showing the best location to drill?

buy the spool kit from pit-bull and it has detailed instructions. I don't see how you would be worried about weakening the arm, it's hollow anyway. And the install is extremely easy.

blwright,

Thanks for the suggestion. I got a combo stand from Heindl, and have been using the roller adapter. Last time I used it, when I let the front wheel down (gently, even!), it slipped off the rear! So, now I think I will drill for spools.

The fact that it's "hollow" is exactly why it's so strong, more surface area to spread the load over. Drilling an 8mm hole will technically weaken it ever so slightly. Filling that 8mm hole with an 8mm bolt will make the swingarm nearly as strong as original.

All of this is really not worth worrying about though. The stock swingarm is over-engineered to withstand the stresses it might encounter in the most extreme of circumstances (think racing).
