HI guys, I'm not a complete newbie, but it's been a few years since I rode everyday. Anyway, I went and looked at a '01 F4i today. 5500 miles, been down on both sides(not bad), tank is perfect. Yosh carbon slip-on. All lights, switches and such work. I rode it, and it's fast!(Big surprise) It seems to only have the cosmetic problems, but the guy doesn't know the maintenance history. At least 1000 miles since oil change, mis-matched tires, clean title. He says 3500.00 takes it. Seems like a deal to me, whatcha think? I can take it to a local shop and get it checked out- probably should, huh? Finally, it seemed to want to fall into turns a little more than I remember- tires, or just me?? Any input is appreciated!!!
Thanks for the reply- He said he has put "around 1000" miles on it himself. He didn't know when the other owner (1st owner) changed the oil. I'm not too worried about the fairings - I've seen tons of them on ebay, and I have a buddy with a paint and body shop.(It really doesn't look bad from 10 feet, except the left side engine cover) Should I take it to the Honda dealer about the frame, or a reputable shop that I know of here in town?? Thanks!!

the handling could be affected by the mismatched tires so I would get a new pair or match up a new tire w/one of the tires on the bike. I would also take it to a shop to get it checked out.

Price seems on the low side, but if both side fairings are rashed it may be a fair price. Definately have someone look it over, local guy should be OK, but Honda dealer may be better (if they have a good rep).
As for the falling into corners, that's probably the mismatched tires. Mine doesn't fall in at all, very predictable.

Sounds about right considering what you would pay for plastics to get it mint... Like most people are saying, get it to a shop and check out the frame.. You never know...
Thanks everybody! I will DEFINITELY get it to the shop before any $$$ changes hands. At first I thought the price was way too low, but then I started pricing bodywork!!
It's most likely the tires that are making it fall into turns. I had the stock Dunlops on my first f4i and it felt like it was falling into turns. The next f4i I had the Michelins on it and it didn't feel like it had the same problem. Felt more natural. Sorry I don't know much about the pricing.
