Default need help for F2/f3 gas tank

hey i just got my bike all painted up and now the damn shit wont run.

i think i turned something on the gas tank when i painted it and now that shit has bad gas intake. can someone teach me how to adjust the gas tank? or give me a link?

its not a question of the big knob or the little knob that come out the left side but i turned the whole thing. the thing was running and poof just stopped. i thought it ran out of gas but i just put some gas in it and still no juice. battery is fine.

anyone know whats wrong? anyone have the manual?

Thanks guys

I'm confused also about what you're asking, so I'll just tell you what I know.

The small knob is to adjust the idle speed, and the big knob is the gas valve that's attatched to the tank. If you turn it counter-clockwise (ON) gas should pour out of the valve (to the carbs). The same should happen if you turn it clockwise (RES). The middle setting should turn it off.

Take the gas feed hose to the carbs off, and put it in a gas can, and twist the knob to make sure gas flows, and can be shut off. If gas comes out, look for your problem elsewhere.

You don't mention whether you have an F3 or F2, but the F3 has a fuel pump, and ramair connections that complicate things and cause it to not run if installed incorrectly.

Hope that helps.

F2 has a vaccum feed style for the petcock. eitherway you must have teh valve off. just turn it to ON

You probably forgot to hook up the vaccuum line. I did that once and it sucked.

hey thanks for all the replies.

i did hook on the vacuum line ( the smaller one right?)

well i turned the tank upside down so the valves were over a can and i turned the big knob. Tried every setting from clockwise to counter and in between. still no gas flow. any suggestions on what might be wrong?

the thing thats weird is the bike was running absolutely fine. i was doing a few circles in the lot to test the gears and i slowed down over a bump and it just slowly died on me.

thanks for all your help guys. im buying a manual right now and hopefully that can help me out. anymore input is appreciated.

ok this is what i just did i took off the entire valve. i think either the valve is broken or its clogged or something.

i dont know if anyones tried this before but i tried blowing into the hole where the large tube goes into. it seems like no air can be blown through. i turned it slowly from one side to another and i found a midpoint where very very little air can be passed through. keep in mind it is very very little. is this normal?

if it is clogged how do i unclog it? or should i just replace the whole damn thing?

hopefully you took the valve off before you painted it and also didn't get any paint inside the tank. That would clog it
