XX pros/Cons
So I am looking at saving up for a good bike to do some touring on, non GW style , And the XX is one of my curiousities. I decided to keep the 600s on the track where they belong but what is the handling like, in the twisties, Is hard lugage easy to come by?
what do you like and what would you change.
I am also thinking about going twin just for the lower RPM factor

Corbin makes great hard luggage, Ventura makes great soft luggage sets like I have. The XX is the greatest under estimated motorcycle to date. Due to their limited production the accessory company's never tooled up to make much for them creating a "Don't buy one of these" atmosphere's by the sales people at shops. They have a whole wall full of aftermarket stuff for Busa's and ZX12's. I'm on my 2nd 2002 XX, the only change I made was a Two Bro's full exhaust, dropped alot of weight and gained alot of horsepower with no need for any additional tuning or Power Commander. After some 28000 miles of racing everything on the road, No Production "Stock" Motorcycle to date has pulled away any more than one or two bike lengths anywhere from 0-the rev limiter in 6th gear. No ZX12 has ever kept up with mine and some Busa's have been side by side all the way to the limiter in 6th gear as long as the driver wasn't over 170-180 lbs. There's something different about the 2002 XX's that nobody has been able to explain yet, they're fast, comfortable, handle well, have no bad habits, and passenger friendly.

thats what I am looking at but are they as bullky as a busa or no?
I cant find one to sit on. I was thinking RVT but I think I want to stick to long rides and touring on the road and keep the perfornance on the track, plus the RVT can not haul luggage that I know of.

In the little experience I had riding one, it felt way more nimble than a Busa.

I haven't ridden a Busa or a ZX12 yet but all three of these bikes are built for the same thing and are unique to them selves, 500 lbs and a little longer than sportbikes. If you ever see all three bikes parked side by side walk across the street and look back at them, the Blackbird is noticeably narrower and more streamline. I've had several riders inspect my bike for a bottle or mod's at the end of a ride furiated that they couldn't outrun an XX as promised by their dealer. There are several riders from this area that walked into a shop to buy an XX and was talked out of it by the salesman. I had the sales manager from Riva, a huge bike dealer, in Ft. Lauderdale ask me "Why would anyone want to put an exhaust on a Blackbird?, such a waste of money".

I love my Bird and can't think of a thing I would change about it. It behaves in town and is a very comfy long distance rider. When you get in the twisties, it'll tackle anything the road will throw at you and do it in way that'll leave you wanting more. You can't go wrong with a Honda Blackbird IMO. Good Luck!
p.s. Here's another site with a fair number of Blackbird owners which also will be able to impart some more information to you. http://www.sport-touring.net/

I owned a '99 for about 36,000 miles. I loved everything about it. Supersmooth, fast, quiet and not everyone had one. I had Givi hard
bags, a scottoiler, heated grips and my Valentine {very important}.
I thought it had an extremely comfortable stock seat. Many 1000 mile
days no problems. No service issues, it just ate tires. The linked brakes
are strong, but you need to stay on top of the rear pads as the rear
brakes are always engaged regardless of which brake you use.

I wanna sell mine so I can remodel my house, it's in the way. When I get ready to ride again it's gonna be an ST-1300.

You certainly know me better than one to "Stir the Pot"! ....................
RR's are a good side by side race until I get into 5th gear and that air induction starts to "Do It's Thing"..........................................................
XX's are still strong oversea's, they just redisigned the lower fairings like the RR's.... Maybe Mr. Honda has been focused on their Formula One Program last couple years and decided to give the Suzuki/Kawasaki scooter engineers a break. I think with a little aero package change, a different cam, crankshaft, you could see the ST1300 transformed into a CBR1300XX/ZR1400 whooper!
