Heck yes, Pinto has 200 hp at the wheel, with some race suspension and still until 1000 lb, that's what they call a sleeper... LEO would never suspect.
I think the old 1000RR looks just like another sportbike.. nothing out of ordinary sportbike styling.

Looks are soooo subjective. How many times have you had a friend introduce his new g/f and you grab your ass to make sure it was still there and not standing in front of you? I betcha' if everyone posted pics of their "beautiful" girlfriends and everyone gave their honest opinions (like they do with the new CBR), it'd be WWIII on the forum.
If YOU like the new bike (like I do), then ride it and F^@K what everyone else is saying.

Without risk there's no room to advance in anything.
Honda took a risk with this styling. More power to them. Hell, they already have the power of dreams anyway..
I personally would ride the hell out of that white and black one. The others, not so much.
But I agree with the above posts, if you like it, ride it, and screw the 'haters'.
You'll be lapping them on track day anyway.

Yes,
I agree that variety makes for the spice of life and difference of opinions and tastes make motorcycling a unique sport b/c you can get or make what you want. If you say that 'looks' don't play into your purchase plan, you haven't been in the sport very long. And it's cool that some people like the look, and I'll bet it DOES perform well; I remember the (real) Katanas when they came out in late 1981 (82 models)...they got all kinds of names and comments...now they're cult-bikes with high prices on their heads. Good for Suzuki and perhaps good for Honda for the same reasons.
That being said the 2007 and earlier CBR1000RRs are (visually) some of my favorite liter-class sport bikes...and the 2008 is still uglier than doody-squat in the rain and no amount of excuse-making will change that. Just my opinion...and I've been in the sport long enough to have one. ;)

With the aftermarket exhaust much likethe Suzuk's 600 its looks great. Also it feels like a 600 with the power of a 1000, my dreams have come true. You just not used to it it looks fine no worse then the 600 yamaha or a 600 suzuki and it has more power then the 06-07 and higher reb limit with a slipper clutch and anti traction. and they come in yellow. I will get one. and now you can put the licens plate n the middle infront of the wheel so nobody can see it.

i have to say, the looks don't stand out like the previous cbr1000rr. the new 1000rr looks like a moon bike or something. the fairings look like they're made of plastic. hopefully they change that.

there's not enough contours on the fairing. it looks like they just slapped a chunk of metal on the bike without giving it any design.

It does not look so out there that it doesn tlook like it should be driven on planet earth, infact not even close, if anything it looks very different what has been selling for so many years small changes of teh same look. Now it looks just as nice but very different much like what the italians are doing. One complaint Honda when are you going have the lights light both sides up like the R1 with the cat eyes.
