Default New 1000RR Owner

I'm new to the forum and just purchased an 05 1000RR Repsol Edition. I had a 2003 954RR that I traded for this bike, and to be honest it was the Repsol paint job that did it for me. My area will only see about 4 or these bikes so I jumped on the first one that got to my local dealer.

I've owned several bikes with my most recent being a 2002 Honda 919, a 2003 CBR 954RR, and now this 1000RR. I'm pretty big into modification as you can see at my 919 site at http://hooliganshonda919.dynup.net so I'm ready to start to work on this 1000.

I've been looking into exhausts and have searched the forums and it seems others are having the same issues I am. The single outlet exhausts just don't look right on the under seat exit style bikes. To me it looks like a big butt hole sticking out the back. The micron dual outlet system looks pretty nice as well as the new RS-5 Yoshiumura system. Both can be heard at http://www.thecyclesource.com/exhaust_library.cfm.

Let me know if there are other exhausts to consider. I hope to contribute quite a bit to this forum and enjoy swapping ideas with others.

I agree on the exhasut thing.. Most cans are too bulky, and stickout too far.. Looks like they took a standard can and just changed the pipes on em to package um unde the seat to save some R&D money.. GHEY!!! Ive only seen one system I really like, but its about $650 for a slip on ...

Default Which Slip On?

Which slip on did you see for $650 that was nice? If it's a good solid design, I'd not be against it. Was it the Laser one I saw earlier? It looked awesome, but I thought I saw a post about it not being centered??

My main criteria are for a pipe are:

1. It must reduce weight. It's only a slip-on, but it has to be lighter than stock.

2. It must be aesthetically pleasing.

3. I don't expect record setting number from a slip on but it must not cause any loss in power anywhere in the band.

4. It's gotta sound good.

I've typically realized a 50% savings in weight and a 5HP or so increase in power from my previous Sato and Akrapovic slip ons. I really liked Akrapovic, but their design for the 1000RR looks like they just turned the can sideways and put a spout on it. Disappointing.

I would love to have a full Arata exhaust, but at $1500 for 15 HP I just can't justify it. Not to mention 145+ RWP is plenty for me.

Yes.. It is the lazer.. The centering thing is probably easily fixed if you have some basic mechanics or engineering skills...But who knows until you get it and try it... I am more for the sound and aesthetics... weigh 165 and on a liter bike.. Im not too worried about the weight factor.. I believe these are made from polished stainless steal, so they are not very weight friendly....
