Uh... last I checked, if something was illegal to own it was illegal to sell as well. So why aren't they shutting down all these after market exhaust companies? Because they can get away with it by saying they are for the track? I have never heard slip on are illegal.
Wrong.

Its perfectly legal to sell non DOT rated exhaust systems as long as they are marked "off road or racing use only". You will find, in the VERY small print...this label on every aftermarket exhaust on the market that doesn't have DOT certification.

So, its perfectly legal to sell. Its legal to put one on a race bike.

Its NOT legal to take that exhaust on the street, even though we all do it.

EDIT: Oh, I see JK beat me to it.

Thanks Auh I had heard of those signal gadgets, I was doing good at lights for the most part with pulling up a bit and letting the cars hit it, don't really want to get busted for something stupid like that again so I suppose it's good time to give in and grab one.

Thanks guys guess I will try to look into the laws for NY or maybe there's a free lawyer consultation or something

The wrong date on the ticket 'might' get you off. What 'Day' is on the ticket - Sunday, Monday?
There is no "day" anywhere just the date and time.

Exactly.

As for the Miller Place issue, was that the red light location? Then that's what gets put on the citation, not where you were stopped.

The big two you are on your own for, you were wrong. The light one is tough as in most places it's legal if you don't get sensed, but the judge might not believe you. The officer might have just saw you go through and not wait and will say that. I try and educate fellow officers on some of the specific issues that come up with riding a motorcycle so they have a better understanding.

Wrong. If your plate number and name is on it, its valid.....period. I got pulled over in my car for an "unsafe lane change" which was BS, but the ticket was written for the wrong color/model car, the wrong day, 12.5 hours off, by a PD who worked 30 miles away as a city cop (pulled over on the highway). I had to pay it after fighting it in court.

The ticket is still valid even if he wrote the date wrong. He can amend the citation to have the correct date.

Yeah, that is true. I have beaten a parking ticket that was filled out incorrectly, wrong day and date. But the wrong date on a moving violation probably won't void the ticket.

The light ticket is bull. I'm always wary when I see a Suffolk County PD Crown Vic around here anyway, though, and ride accordingly. I'd do what others suggest in the future, namely making a right turn and then pulling a U-turn followed by a straight or a right depending on which direction you want to go.

If there is anyway you can prove that you weren't riding on the day you got ticketed for you may be able to get out of these. I had a friend who got out of a ticket because they had the incorrect information (i believe the intersections were wrong... way wrong) and thus making the officer's judgement at the time of ticketing "questionable". I could be wrong though. I smoke some pot for brunch with my Chic-fil-a.

You ran a red light period. and your excuse isn't good enough because you had better options.
At least around here, the left turn lane is marked with solid white - so crossing those to make a right turn from the left turn lane is illegal too.

So is abandoning a vehicle in traffic to go press a pedestrian signal.

Each of those would be eligible for just as serious a ticket as the one he got, if witnessed by the LEO who was supposedly "parked right behind him".

The "right" course is the one he pursued - if the light isn't working properly, you treat it as a stop sign. Now he's being screwed for it.

As a Yankee, the first time I went down South and saw that joint I said "The fuck's a Chick fill-uh?" Then some rube informed me it was a "Chick Fill-Ey"

Proceed with the ticket talk.

Thats what I figure, the judge won't believe me anyway and the cop will just say I wasn't there that long and I admitted to running it, and it'll be like what the officer and I said to each other, same convo but w/ a judge lol

The worst part is not wanting to go ride again if they catch me w/ no license again since he knows me and my bike now, I'll probably get impounded and/or court date & suspended license unless I can find some people to ride with that have a license. My first nearly-2k miles have been solo. I also have to find somewhere I can bring it in for inspection fast. Just frustrating to get busted for this BS when I've been playing by the rules since I started, oh except the not having a license part and a little blast down an empty highway once in a while hehe

Inspection is $6 and takes two seconds. At least mine did...

If you want to ride to the Deer Park area, I'll PM you the address and phone # of the guy who inspected my bike. He's good peoples.

Get your license, its the easiest thing in the world to do. Just get your License from DMV and take the mSF if thats what you want to do...

2 out of the 4 are BS tickets but the other 2 - are pretty boneheaded.

How can you be out w/ no license for 2,000 miles. We all eventually get pulled over and cops are definitely looking for that M endorsement.

I got out of a ticket on Friday just because all my stuff was legit.

Thanks man but already got it today at Ramp Triumph on 112, passed with no problems so I think I will try pleading not-guilty on that exhaust ticket as well as the no inspection.

But yeah there's no getting around the unlicensed so I'm stuck with that one I dunno how soon I could schedule a regular road test and I'm already signed up for the MSF anyway. Maybe I could fight the red light ticket but again chances are the judge will believe the cop over me so most likely will just pay those two and be done with it.
