i had a few tickets when i was in high school (12 years ago ) and took traffic class in WI. you can earn 4 points back but it does not get rid of the ticket on you record. so if you got a few tickets and were in danger of loosing or license you could take it, but otherwise it was worthless.

19 year old with a litre bike...
Squid.
Joking, tough break man. I have been pulled over twice for going way over the speed limit, and the cops laughed it off... Canadian cops ftw.

10mph over on an empty highway.. what a menace to society!
Cop must have a hate on for sportbikes, or else saw how young you are and judged you on that. I would consider fighting it.

Off topic...where have you been. This is the first post I've seen from you since like April.
Also I had a friend who got pulled over in a car doing 100 over (145 in a 45). cop didn't get him on radar but it was a $400 dollar ticket and all the points on his license. He took traffic school and it ended up being 2 points.

I would fight it. Sounds like he had no good reason to ticket you, so he used an generic charge to write the ticket and then basically told you not to take it to court because he was giving you a break.

Ya, that sure does suck. Good luck in court! Next time get a HD, they're invisible. I've never seen one pulled over in my life (except under a bridge when raining) and I doubt they all go the speed limit 100% of the time.

That is very pathetic. - occasionally you just run into a Sportbike Hating tool of a cop. Part of the game unfortunately....and being 19 doesnt help...youre automatically guilty.
BTW - 19 yr old on a ZX10 is just plain old bad news. Even if you were doing the speed limit...?

Welcome to WI. I got a ticket for 83/65, in my car, outside of EauClaire because he "was behind me and determined that's how fast I was going". No radar, no vascar, no nothing, other than the fact that he determed that's how fast I was going.
Now all of this from almost a mile away, with about 20 cars and 8 large trucks in between. There is simply no way could could have even seen me through the trucks, much less determined my speed. There's 2 reasons I got the ticket: OOS plate and a nice car. Welcome to WI. I was also very polite and cooperative and he was still an a*&hole.

Some insurance companies rate you according to the number of points on your license is what my old carrier (Safeco) told me.
When I switched to State Farm a few months ago the agent told me I was in their 'preferred' insurance group and that speeding tickets wouldn't affect my rates. Of course I am not testing this theory...I'm just saying

Dude that guy has put over 20k miles on his 600, and I believe like 10k miles on a 500. He has plenty of experience.
Also, fight that ticket. The longer I live the more I realize that I want to always live in the south. I've passed cops doing 10-15 over ALL the time and I actually had a run in where I was going double the speed limit and then some...and I got off with a warning. My cousin and I were talking about this the other day and he realized that he had gotten pulled over 9 times in alabama. He never received a ticket. He has gotten pulled over once out of state. That one out of state incident is his only ticket.
So after you beat the ticket, move to alabama!

Not all of us are sportbike loving nice guys. Sorry bud. Sounds like BS to me. I would have waved. Freakes out the squids. The real riders usually wave back.

Yep, still show up to court. Clean record usually means the court will drop the points, or give you probation after which as long as no other tickets after a certain time frame your record is cleared.
Always worth going to court...
Research online what Judges are at the court you will be going to. Call that court, and see if they know what Judge will be there the day you will be. The internet makes it so easy to read about these Judges and their views. Also Call the DA, and maybe you can get them to lower, or drop the ticket...maybe not, but worth a call.

so, you are looking for the cop to cut you some slack because you were only slightly speeding - is that it??
