Default cops harassing bikers on bike night, please respond

So I'm trying to do sum research here about my civil rights. Every tues night on Long Island we have bike night in which is always broken up by cops. They tell us we have to leave where we are, one told me last night I was trespassing at Mcdonalds, eventhough I just got out eating. Note that every1 meets up in a park and ride parking lot next to Applebees and Mcdonalds. What I don't get is what type of laws are we breaking just from hanging out in a parking lot? Where I know my next door neighbor and his friends meet there with their classic cars in the same parking lot and they are not bothered. Seems to be just bikers are harassed and a few cars and I know from experience. 1st amendment states I have the right of assembly and believe these cops are violating my 1st amendment. I get a different story from each cop, what I'm doing wrong and had my bike inspected because I refused to leave. Please respond.

I actually think that technically just hanging out in a parking lot can be considered loitering...

that would defeat the whole purpose of your right of assembly. there are no signs posted of no trespassing or no loitering. It is not private property.

Actually it is private property and if the Manager's call or request the officers to have you leave, then thats it.

was anyone acting like a jackass ? most times the cops come after someone does a burn out or a wheelie or some stupid shit like that ...If you want to get a real legit bike night going, find a place you want, then go talk to the owner ,make him realize that you guys will help his business not hinder it . Might have to try a couple places , but you will find one ..just a thought ..

Perhaps there is a standing request to have keep people from hanging out. It could be they are there just to bust people's nuts. ALOT and I mean ALOT of cops hate sportbikes.

oh i know that believe me. i hate having police escorts all the time. its just the simple fact that we can not gather without having problems with the cops, in which I believe is against my 1st amendment.

During these meets is anyone actually riding, or is everyone basically just standing around??

It very well maybe, but it is going to depend on the property management. If you get permission from them to gather, it makes it harder for the officers. We wouldn't have this problem if could stop ASSHOLES from owning sportbikes. I get harassed all the time too, so I feel your pain.
