Default crappy ticket

I just got a ticket for and I quote "Failure to maintain safe lookout & control."
Ok a car was like just nailin its brakes with no signals on or anything, im in the far right lane keep in mind there are 3 lanes. I look behind me and see that i can swerve over( also keep in mind i have to get in the left lane to go to my house anyways) so i swerve over to the middle then the left and to my luck some cop is sitting in the median about to turn to. He's right infront of me and right before im about to turn left he hits his lights on me and said I shouldn't be doing that. I told him what happened but he didn't care, so now I have a ticket and a freaking court date, wtf. Im not going though, the courts here are always like a 2 hour wait. He said I didn't have to go and I could just pay the ticket. What would you do?

I agree, this is a crappy ticket. Perhaps he's a rook, or just a A------, but is a violation, and if you record is fine, I'd probably pay it also and save court costs. But if the points are a factor, or ins. questionable, I'd go to court and speak to the Judge, you have 50/50 chance there. Or, may be offered traffic school.

If you finght it then you will be able to talk your way out of it. Just be prepared with pictures and look up the code that he wrote it under and you may find a loop hole and be able to show a judge information that will sway his opinion...what have you got to lose...just a couple hours or pay a fine and have that on your record.

If it were me...I would fight it.

Yeah he said I could go to traffic school, which is 4 hours long. I thought you can do that online though. Is that true?

Don't see how ya could do it on line, you have to pay for the class, and paperwork filed with the state. Log in, etc. Don't let them catch you sleeping either, (that's why I don't see the online thing). I can see traffic school, as long as you haven't already recently been.

You can get a ticket on a bike?j/k Exactly what infraction did you comit. I'm confused it doesn't appear you did anything wrong. Did you not signal or something?

He said I shouldn't be swerving into the other lane like that. But I looked behind me and it was clear that I could do it. I never knew it was illegal to lane change faster then the norm.

i'm down in fla, and i've taken an on-line traffic corse. the computer times how long you've been on the site, and checks you page by page. after that, you have to print up some paper saying you took this online corse, and bring it to (i think) the clerk of the court and turn it in.

Yea u bastard how dare you swerve around a car that is commiting a traffic infraction itself. Your suppose to hit it and you won't get a ticket. Damn retards in blue givin em all bad names. I still don't get the whole you changed lanes too fast. It's a pretty empty road and even if the car didn't jam on its brakes for no reason your not really putting anyone in danger. There are probably points with this ticket and i would fight it no point in givng the good old boy system any more money then needed.

Haven't seen that yet, know anymore about it so I can check on it for the locals that may ask, perhaps we can try to get the system going here.

we have the online traffic course in texas too.

the only reason i know is because my friend decided to take a "shortcut" to his friends house, which of course is by going the wrong way down a one-way street.

Sweet, cause I really don't feel like spending 4 hours in some "traffic school." I'm in Tn to JaiBird. It's hard for me to go to the court date because its at 9 am and I dont get home till 4am'ish (work).

fight it man. You were doing the right thing {although a judge might say you were tailgating and amend the charge}, but I'd still fight it. Btw, what the hell is "traffic school"??
