Default I go to court wednesday, have a question

I got tickets about 6 weeks ago for no current registration and NO INSURANCE in my truck. the no current registration was a mix up and my fault I've got no problems paying the fine but the no insurance presents a problem. I'm getting a letter stating that I had insurance on the vehicle at the time I was pulled over but do you think I will need anything else? I've got to get this ticket dropped, its almost $700. it was VIN number problem with the insurance but it's fixed now.

Any other suggestions?

If you have the registration and insurance current and have proof they might charge a small fine or could dismiss them. If you had insurance at the time of the stop but no card in the truck most places will dismiss it. If you can show proof of a mix up with the registration they will probably dismiss that one too.

^^^What he said. Take all of your paperwork with you to include the the new registration and the citations will most likely be dismissed with court cost only. Usually is what occurs most of the time anyway.

I actually got the no insurance ticket after my accident with my probe.(If i was on the bike i woulda been toast) Car was twisted so bad got hit in front and trunk wouldn't open(where insurance was). I just went to insurance broker got the copy of card they keep on file from when i opened policy and brought it too court and it was dismissed. Your insurance broker should have on file orginal cards from when policy was opened/renewed in your file. You can take those or at least in NYC a photocopy is good enough. Hope it helps and don't give those money hungry bastards a dime more then ya gotta.

Ok.. got all my stuff together but don't have to be there before this afternoon. Last question is.. Is khaki's and a polo shirt ok? I'd have to over or under dress but I've never even been in a courthouse before.

In traffic court you will be somewhere in the top 5 best dressed there in that outfit. I had a button down collard shirt and nice jeans and the three people dressed better than me was the judge, balif and the cort reporter. Had I put khaki's on it would have only been the judge.

You should be fine with that. Most people when I go to court look like they just rolled out of bed and put on whatever was on the floor.

If you have all papers in order and just needa bring em so they can verify so you can wear whatever you want. I walked in to court in shorts and a tribal tee shirt with West Coast choppers hat on. Judge just looked at me said you got proof of insurance? Handed it to him and he goes dismissed get your printout from the clerk. If you could be found guilty dress up though. It should show you consider it a serious matter and may buy ya some sympathy.

All the times ive been to court ive dressed nicely. However i've come to the conclusion that it really doesnt matter, it could just be based on what your actual ticket is. I love looking at people who look like they are trying so hard to look professional when i know the judge doesnt care. Ive gone in slacks button down and tie, but im comfortable in that stuff and was heading to work later.

Anyways howd it go and i hope court was a fun experience, and you didnt have to sit and wait fo rlong

Ok.. I did my thing today. The 2 tickets I got were

No registration and No Insurance.

Both were due to the fact that the VIN number was screwed up on my insurance. The Insurance ticket fine was $700 and the registration was $144. They ended up dismissing the insurance because I did actually have insurance. I really didn't have a leg to stand on with the no registration so I just paid the fine and went along my way.

I did learn that I'm not doing mail in registration. I'll just go over to the office and wait in line for 30 minutes or so to make sure it's done right

That's cool they threw out the $700 ticket. Not only fine would get ya but if your insurance got wind of it you would be in high risk I belive for awhile.?

I got into an accident while stationed in New Jersey. The wreck wasn't my fault and I had my MC endorsement but michigan was takeing it's time sending me my new license. I had my paper permit but wasn't able to get it out for the officer being I was strapped to the stretcher and my papers were in the bike. Well the officer gave me a ticket for $300.00

I went to court and told them what had happend and that I was in the military and I had to wait for my license in the mail, not like I can just run down to the nearest DMV. So the judge said that he understood and gave me a $100 ticket for failure to produce at the time of an accident.

Not to flame you too bad because being 19 you still have alot to learn. Bet ya never "escaped from N.Y." Yeah, they charge the court cost and I too agree that that is sometimes not in the best of taste. But the commy statement, "Why don't you go visit a 3rd world country, see what happens there then say those comments. In all, the USA as its problems, but is still the best place to live. Better yet, ask the families of those thay died or the VETS that are still around that have sacrificed for your comments.

About the commy comment it was a joke hence the smiley face so lighten up. On the i'm 19 with no life expierence. I have a real estate liscence and made good money in that,go to college full time,am 1/3 of the way to my pilots liscence, work full time as a warehouse manager and run my own lil side buissness of goin to auctions with my boss and buying cars with my money fixing em myself and selling em for a tidy profit, usually do 1 every 2 weeks. Played baseball, football, tennis(one of top 10 in my borough and there are 5 boroughs in NYC),ice hockey. Could have gone to Rutgers on a full scholarship for football but got mauled and nearly killed by dog. In hospital for almost 3 months. Been nearly killed a few other times from various things and have a seconf home at various hospitals. Was in a car accident that permanetly damaged my vision. Have a couple hundred thosand miles driving many of em in a semi and about a lil ova 20gs on my bikes as i now use it for commuting purposes. Been to 11 states and 3 countries. Had many encounters with the popo and law, most ending quite badly until i had the honor of proving myself not guilty and usually paying court costs.(isn't it suppose to be the other way around) Your amigos tried many times harrasing me but never 1 guilty on anything. Even though i have had some good expierence with cops and even wrote the precient on one who helped me fill out paper for harrasment charges (yes harrasement you can charge some one with harrasement for unfairly bothering you in person not 1 phone call needed in NYC officer 737)saying how helpful he was and how he was an asset. I got more life expierence then most people much older then me no where near as much as some people but a lot more then any other 19 year old. So you really, really, really don't know me and yes this was a rant.
