And the store clerk fought back too

It was a big day for several law enforcement agencies, after a police chase stretched through three Middle Tennessee counties.
The pursuit started in Davidson County on Murfreesboro Road at the Drake Motel. The driver made his way through Donelson, and police say they stopped the pursuit there.
They later caught up with him again, though, along I-24 in Rutherford County. The police chopper stayed with him overhead, letting police cars stay behind at a distance.
The suspect made his way on to I-840 and at one point he even got off and back on 840, going the wrong direction.
The driver left Interstate 840 in Wilson County and the chase finally ended in Gladeville, when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a ditch.
Metro Police haven't yet released the man's name, but they believe he started his day around 4:00am Tuesday morning by robbing a Mapco on Stewarts Ferry Pike in the Hermitage area.
Later Tuesday morning, police say the man reached over the counter at JR's Market on Nolensville Road in Nashville and grabbed all the $20 bills in the drawer.
The store clerk hit the robber with a bat and even followed him out and smashed a couple of windows in his car.
Metro Police Detective Mike Chastain tells us the smashed windows helped him spot the car during the chase.
