Question about not paying Tickets for states I don't live in!
If you don't pay your fines what happends?
I mean honestly if I went to North Dakota to pick up something and I know I'd never be back in ND got a couple speeding tickets. Don't pay the fine, what are they going to do? How can it come back @ me?
I would imagine you could end up with a warrant in ND, I believe that failure to pay a ticket counts as a did not appear in court? The officers will be more help, I've had a few tickets out of state before and I've always paid them so I'm not totally sure.

yea you get warrants in those states, also some states have agreements with other states where stuff can transfer over.. i know someone who lost their ohio liscense while out in washington
Might not be a great idea to skip paying them. A quick story:
My roomate and I are taking the MSF together, first class is tonight. A few weeks ago he was still without his permit so he went and took the test at the DMV. He passed, no problems, but he didn't leave with his permit. Apparently the PA DMV can see that he has an outstanding ticket in CA from 2+ years ago and won't issue him his permit until that's resolved. He finally got the fax from the CA DMV saying that it was taken care of, so he has to go pick up his permit today. I was surprised, I never heard of anything like that happening before!
Warrants (depending on state and seriousness) and driving privileges in that state suspended and if they have reciprocity with your home state your license in your home state can be suspended. I just had a traffic stop with a suspended license because he didn't pay a red light camera ticket in VA. Driver had a MD license.

...cop was doing his job, and you fucked up and got caught - pay the fine - that way, you don't have to worry about what might happen to you if you don't!

+1. There you go with that whole responsibility thing again...some people are always looking for the easy way out.
2 Previous post... Ofcourse the cop was doing his job and I have absolutely no problem with that, but heck don't lie. No one would pay their fines if they knew there was no penatly because your only fooling your self if you think you would. Its not about responsbility its about the cash involved. Unless your a high roller you still rather not pay out that couple hundred for the ticket.
I was just curious for my self because im not going to lie im an avid speeder. I go with the fast traffic on the highways at 75 sometimes a max of 85[85 is is 20 over or 15 over depends on the highway which does seem quite high over the limit but its not when your on the not so crowded toll roads(except through the city)] and 5-10 over on non-highway roads depending on the road. If im alone I actually slow down to no more then 5 over because you can't hide in the traffic and no warning signs to slow down obviously except on the highways where I'll still cruise at 10 over. Its just the way I drive. I don't do the swerve in and out or go blowing by people speeding excessivly in traffic but I do choose to speed with the faster flowing traffic. If I get ticketed so be it, I will pay the fine.
I know that if you get caught in another state and they have agreements with your home state they will revoke your DL. NC has one with about every other state known to man and belive me they will revoke your DL. I've picked up I don't know how many DL from them being revoked because they got a ticket in another state and didn't pay it.
On one of our local highways they installed a couple speed limit signs they can actually change for the conditions which I think is GREAT!! Once its much more accepted it will become a great tool on all highways for things such as lowering the speed limit for a back up ahead due to an accident so people arn't flying up then slowing down a rapid pace due to stopped/slow traffic ahead. Also for when its 3am on a TUESDAY!! They can pump the speed limit up to say 75. Road conditions change and so should the speed limit with it.
Im sure now its still in a testing phase and cost much more government money to run such things but Im sure it'll advance and it will possibly be one day be more computer operated such as sensors able to tell traffic conditions.

The American way...why do it if I don't have to? Because I wouldn't want to take the chance on it coming back to haunt me if I chose not to pay it. That's the first reason. And second thing is, if you can't afford the fine you really should pay closer attention to your speed. The fact that you can't pay your fine shouldn't stop the cop from writing you a ticket or make you exempt from having to pay it. Eventually it could and most likely would catch up with you. It's up to you if you want to roll the dice and take that gamble? I wouldn't. Some professions require a drivers license or a thorough background check. I like mine as clean as can be so I don't have any problems.
The point was to see if it would come back at me or not I was curious. Plus I wouldn't take the chance because of my planned career choice. Who said I couldn't pay my fine? I can pay it no problem but who likes to spend a couple hundred bucks with nothing in return! Its not just the american way its human nature. Your reading things that just arn't on the paper.
Here in KS a warrant would be issued and your DL could be suspended. It would be for failure to comply with citation or failure to appear. I understand that a person wouldnt want to pay if there isnt going to be a punishment for it but I wouldnt risk it. As stated before, there are some states that will suspend/revoke your DL for something you did in another state.
Human nature would be to accept responsibility. Not paying the fine which you got because you did something illegal is irresponsible. If you have the money, then it's a non-issue? And if you don't want to spend the money, maybe you shouldn't be speeding in the first place? I'm the first one to admit that tickets suck and I hate paying them. But if I was speeding and get caught, there's really no choice but to man up and pay it since I'm the one who made the decision to speed. If your couple of hundred dollars is that important to you...don't speed and you won't have to worry about getting caught.
