Just get a traffic attorney and try to have the ticket thrown out. May cost $200 but well worth not having it on your record. I've know people who have done this and if the officer doesn't cross his T's and dot his i's it may be thrown out by the judge. Also the calibration tool for the radar gun has to have certification and the calibration tool has to have proof of calibration too... Good Luck.
Our limit for our city is 31 over for a citation. If you go 32 over the posted speed limit it is a trip to the county. The obstruction would have come in when the officer was told that he didnt know the person but then went right to where his buddy was. I am not a fan of being lied to and have taken people to jail for trying to give me a fake name and DOB because they had a warrant or suspended DL.
Yes she is a officer and NC is the same way. 15mph over the limit not only can I arrest you, I can take your license and cut them up on the spot.
In Texas, speeding is one of only two violations we must afford the offender the chance to sign the citation. The other is open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. If the speed is high enough (100+), we can go with reckless driving but we have to articulate more than just speeding..
I would of like to told the cop to piss off if he was following me but ofcourse I would never do that as I plan to be a State Trooper and have respect for our law enforcement.
Did you know he was following you? In a vehicle im much more aware of whats behind me as the bikes mirror don't can't see as much, but as I was saying is in a car its easy to know someone is following you but on the bike I could see possibly not realising he was following you and I would of never went where your friend was.
I know not mentioning names might make you mad officer brat but over speeding I would never admit to knowing who the guy was if he got away like that, ofcourse if we all got pulled over I wouldn't lie. I'd always be the one who pulled over and stopped. Anything more serious then speeding I would always be honest.
I ride with a couple of groups where I don't know anything except nicknames...I don't know their names, addresses, or anything about them...other than they show up at a particular place on a given night and we all go for a ride
I do the same thing. And it's not uncommon to be riding solo and the next thing you know another bike is riding with you for several miles before you stop and talk and find out who they are.
Here though it is a pretty biker friendly area with the exception of the people not watching out for them.

Kinda hard to fight calibration these days since the radars in most places are certified by the state and they keep records of them. Officers cannot calibrate their own radar units, has to be done by a technician. At the beginning of my shift I test the unit with tuning forks. As long s they are within acceptable ranges of the test then the courts will support that the calibration was within limits. The company my dept. buys their radars from sends a techncian out every year to check the calibration on our units (and for what they cost they should).
BTW, the radar is just verify what the officer has already witnessed. An officer's judgement and esitmation of speed is just supported by the use of the radar device. I have written citations before for speeding and never turned my radar on and won the case in court!

Ultimately what it boils down to is that a person lied to help out a friend, got caught and then got lucky by not being sent to the pokey. I dont much care if it was for a speeding ticket or not. If I am trying to get information on a person who had comitted a crime and you are lying to me then its not cool. It wasnt just speeding that happend. Its the fact that he/she ran.
I will be cool with people if they are honest from the start. Who knows, maybe that day was a great day and everyone gets let off on a warning. Its officer discretion on everything here with the exception of two things. One exception is arresting when you have PC to believe that a person is operating a vehicle under the influence and the second is arresting when a domestic battery has occured. Other then those two things an officer can let you go for anything, even speeding 30 mph over the posted limit. Let me just cover that this is in KS and may not apply to other states.
^ I didn't think about the running part. I was thinking if I pulled over and they kept going on straight unsure if they were suppose to pull over also or not.
I see what your saying though.
