Deputy's house targeted by arsonist

Guess we are never off duty, even at home!!

Someone tried to set a Wilson County Deputy Sheriff's home on fire in Mount Juliet while the deputy and his three children were inside.

Deputy Ray Justice says he was asleep on his sofa when he was awakened to the glare of fire at his front window Thursday morning. Investigators say someone threw a fire bomb and torched the porch, but he managed to get his three sons out of the house unharmed.

The state bomb and arson team, Mount Juliet Police and the Wilson County Sheriff's Department are all involved in what they are calling an aggressive investigation.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Justice believes he was targeted because he is an officer of the law.

All I can say is WTF? I'm glad him and his sons were unharmed though. The house can always be replaced.

Good thing he was sleeping on the couch.

Guess it's a good thing I missed the test last week

If I do go that route I better not piss anyone off. Kauai is so small and alot of people know of the familys land.

Guess I'll have to plan land mine booby traps around the perimeter

So far I have been lucky and no one has tried to do anything to my house but I have been encountered off duty a couple of times. Same end result, they went to jail again.

Probably not the case but some people just get their just deserts however no need to go after family. Here on Staten Island this cop kept messin with me until i realized he goes to the same gym as i do. I just made him look like a fool every time i saw him at the gym and he pretty much stopped it. Some people go out lookin for trouble and it finds em. Others just inocently piss of a random psychopath.

Being not all the big compared to some officers I try to out think them or do anything I can to turn things into my favor when I face some of the really big guys. On DUI stops where I am at a size disadvantage and the person starts to get irate I may give them a field sobriety task that will get them off balance and then I make the arrest. Another trick is the bluff, just like in poker. Just be ready if they call your bluff, you better be ready to act. Before I became a city cop I was county deputy sheriff. Being a deputy in a rural county is hard because your back up might be 30 mins. away. I stopped a guy on road in the middle of the boonies for a possible DUI. He was so drunk that he couldn't do any of the field sobreity tasks. He was 6'3" and 325#. I told him he was under arrest and he said "I'm not going to jail" and took an agressive stance. I keyed up the radio and requested an ambulance and got the achknowledgement from dispatch who asked was I okay, I stated I 10-4 at that time. The guy asked why I called for an ambulance and I stated flatly and coldly that I wasn't big enough to fight him nor was I going to and that I would just send him to the hospital instead. After about a 1 min stare down he said "you misunderstood me deputy, I meant I didn't want to go to jail". I put the cuffs on him without a problem and cancelled the ambulance.

Nice one officer lol the guy was probably taking a minute to figure out your riddle lol.Just cause ur small don't mean ya can't crack em in da knees with the baton or make em accidentaly hit their head on da hood repeatedly.

very true. I learned when I took martial arts that it only takes 6lbs of pressure to break a knee cap. Break the knee and bring the bigger guys down to my size for the fight
