Default People who come up behind you(Cop) while your Driving.

Often if there is a cop infront of me I will maintain my distance, if he is going 5 over im just hanging back in the same spot following him at that speed but several times I have/see people pass me and come up behind the cop and hang there not passing. I have never seen them ever be pulled over, why not? Its obvious that they are just blowing by everyone and only slowing down to the speed your going so they don't pass you but will hang within 2 car lengths behind you(1st car behind you). Im always thinking man your crazy passing everyone and coming up behind the cop but never see them pulled over, sup with that? Not that I truly care if they get pulled over or not, just seeing if there is any reason behind this?

I usually just wheelie past them. They don't mind.

Sometimes the officer might not see them or maybe their radar unit isn't capable of locking them from behind. Another thing is that the officer might be going to a call and doesn't have the time to mess with them.

I have that happen to me quite often. I have seen motorist looking at me and they have a look on their face suggesting (Why are you not doing something about that?)..the truth is that more times than not, the Officer is in fact going to a call. Our department does not want us to deter from a call just for minor traffic infractions..Another point that Officer737 stated is that they may might not be able to clock the vehicles from behind. Our department has very few radars installed in our vehicles. These units are usually installed on our highway cars.

My dept. has just started getting newer models in. The old model was the Trooper II by Kustom. The new ones ate MPHs with front and rear antennas.

We are slowly adding the Stalker radars to our specialized units. They can clock vehicles moving in the same direction while in movement..They are awesome. They also have Fast speed technology which enables them to pick out faster vehicles and rather than picking up the larger vehicle.

you dont need a radar to do simple math. Im going 70 yet a car that i saw far behind me a minute ago is now riding right behind me. I think they were speeding...

I just thought of this today when I was going down the highway speeding and went to get in the left lane to pass a car when I saw a state trooper coming up from behind. I was halfway in the left lane and switched back in the right lane behind the car I was going to pass. I slowed down to about five over and the cop just flew past me. I am guessing he was headed to a call because he was scooting along pretty quick.

I have seen the opposite a lot. People staying behind the cop even though the cop is going 5-10mph under the speed limit. I'm like "Get some balls and pass him". Its not like it is illegal to pass a slower car so why not pass them.

Gotta agree with Travis on that one. I forget the article but a man riding a rc-51 got busted for 205 mph. 205 MPH!!!!!!!!!!! That bike stock tops out at 159 due to gearing. The only way a thosand cc v-twin is going to hit 205 mph is with some serious internal work or a big ass turbo and the biggest shot of nos you can find to have 1 last run on that nice working motor of yours before it blows to pieces. Then you would also have to change the gearing. The part i found amusing was that the chief and i quote "I have full confidence in the ability of the officer in question." He just wrote a ticket for a speed that bike can't come within 50 mph of under ideal conditions yet you have full confidence on the officer in question. lmao If the ticket were for like 140 that would be believable. However not all cops are bad but just like any other job you just have some amusing characters, so i figured i would share.
