Default Stunting and the law

I hope this isn't a reposted question but, can't the police pick up a copy of a stunter's tape watch it then go and ticket or arrest the guys? I am talking about the ones that do it illegally on the freeways and what not. In the thread about the motorcycle show in Cleveland someone talked about Triumph not participating in the shows because the stunters are making motorcycling less appealing to parents and as long as so many stunters are included in the shows Triumph wont.......

Well, I guess it depends on what the statute of limitations is for something like this and whether they can positively identify the rider of the motorcycle at the time (helmet and tinted visor).

dont even try to begin to understand the courts. i dont. they are so messed up there are so many rules ans acceptions to rules. the tapes are probably inadmisable for some reason or another so if they did find the rider and the bike it wouldnt matter because they have no probable cause if the tape is in admisable. the tape couild be considered hear say.

Just another example of how the legal system in the this country is so whack.

Why can Eminem sing about all the drugs he takes, but then a 10 year old kid who downloads the MP3 song can get sued?

If someone falls on the sidewalk outside my house why can I be sued? Even though 8 feet into ur lawn is still considered "eminent domanin" if the town feels the need they can take it away from you

How come cops can drive 100mph on a side road and then pull someone over for doing 70 on a highway?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?????

So many questions....

Triumph pulled out because of some parents feelings?? WHAT?? yeah, I heard Ford is going bankrupt because a redneck in texas drank and drove. I call bullshit.
My mom and dad don't buy my bikes--I dont let them pick my shirts, let alone a bike.
As to the stunters---good editing doesn't show a plate, or a face---how would the government show guilt of a stunter, if they cant identify them, when they can't find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?

Triumph sponsors Kyle Woods. He gets bikes from them and guess what? They are for stunting. So they do support stunting.

I was refering to what someone typed in this thread...International Motorcycle Show - Cleveland, OH (This Weekend)
I have nothing against stunters.. hell if I was a bit younger w/ no kids I am certain I would have a stunting bike..... here is the quote from SRT Mike.

Quote:
The reason Triumph is not showing up is that they are sick of the "stunt groups" that plague the shows. They feel that it gives the wrong impression about motorcyling to the future riders - young children. They feel that parents see these people doing illegal stunts and the kids think its so cool and these guys are so great, and the parents think "no WAY is he getting a bike - ever!". They feel that if they support the stunters they are hurting their future.

Soooooo.. my point is that if you too are sick of the stunt groups or if you want to see Triumph at the show, find one of the Advanstar people walking around in a red jacket and tell them you want to see Triumph and you want to see less vendors selling stunting vids.

How do I know what I wrote above is true? I am friends with the editor of one of the magazines and after the Long Beach show last year we went out to dinner with a few people - including the president of Triumph North America and he said that they wre cancelling doing many of the shows if they keep letting the stunters in.

The gray areas are so large in these cases the chances of it going to court are pretty slim but an agressive officer/DA could get a case into court but not sure it would go anywhere.

Its all in the editing, take out the plates and faces and voila, no proof of who it is. If you CAN prove who's bike it is, then you have trouble proving who is ON the bike.

We've done MANY car videos like this. Burnouts, street racing(closed environment, etc etc), highway roll races, etc etc. None of us have ever gotten in trouble for it, either.

What about if the camera is still mounted to the bike during the stop?

Well, that depends... (Will, hold off on this for a while)

Under what circumstances do you think the camera and it's contents could be subject to a search?

good point jk... I didn't even think of that... If you get stopped for speeding or reckless op.. I would imagine the contents of the camera to be fair game...

I was wondering that too, Last year my buddy had his stang out on new years day to videotape some donuts before he put new tires on. When we left he set the cam on the seat and we were sitting at a light behind him on our bikes. He turned on the cam and was planning to videotape him shifting real fast. Little did he know there was a patrol car right next to us on the bikes. Light turns green and he takes off up to about 100 mph and over the hill he goes. We kinda rode next to the cop as long as we could but he cut us off and flew up the road after him. On the video you can see him pull the camera up and go to look in his mirror to see us and all you hear is "oh fuck" and the camera flies behind the seat. Luckily it was right around 3:00 and I think the cops were headed to the station because they just checked his license, told him to slow down, and sent him home.

Anyways if they would have seen the tape he would have been in a lot more trouble.
