I got a ticket, mailed it in, it hasnt come back. Who to contact?

so, a little over two months ago I got pulled over and was issued a ticket. I checked the box on the back saying that I was pleading not guilty and wanted a court date. After you mail it in, they mail a letter back saying when your court date is. Its been about a month since I mailed the ticket in, and I havent gotten anything back yet. I am assuming the ticket was lost in the mail, or in their system or whatever.

Who do I call to find out what the deal is? And what happens to me? I assume it is treated just like I never sent it in at all, so at this point if I wanted to plead out, I assume I am SOL. What is my next step?

Call the dept. that issued the ticket and see if they got it in the mail. If not then ask for a court date and explain the situation about not getting confirmation involving the mail. You should be okay though.

I just called the department and they told me to call the DMV. I called them and they told me to call the court house. I talked to her and she said that it takes 2-3 months for me to hear back.

Good deal! Courts understand shit happens sometimes and they do try to work with people that are willing to at least let them know what is going on.

I know in illinois they put the court date on the ticket when you get it. If you mail in the fine, you just don't go. Otherwise you go.
