Question fuel system issues

I rode yesterday with a group of kneedraggers on a long run of hard riding. I have an '07 K1200R. I'm very happy that I got my suspension dialed in and can keep with or pass my friends on ZX-10R's, GSX-R 1000's and R1's in the turns, but at the end of a wide open throttle run through the orange groves we came to a stop and my bike stalled. A rider behind me told me that it was running really rich. The temp and oil was normal. I started it back up and it wouldn't idle, so I kept the RPM's up for the remainder of the trip toward home. The fuel management was very twitchy and when shifting gears, the RPM's would zing higher when I let off the throttle. This happened shortly after filling up with fuel, but everyone in the group refilled and I was the only one with problems. I know that my bike is the only one that has detonation sensors and that the fuel station may have sold us regular unleaded instead of the labeled 93. Possibly the other bikes were detonating like hell the whole time afterward and mine went into safety mode. I read that the timing is retarded and the fuel consumption increases in this mode. Does anyone think that this may be what is occuring or is there an entirely different issue happening here. I'll top off the tank tonight with some fresh fuel to see if it helps. My dealer is closed today and it's driving me nuts.

hmmmm
that's a wild story. I am totally puzzled.
I think gas (over the past year) has really gotten shitty all over the country.

let us know what you find out.. may require a trip to your local beemer shop for the plug in diagnostic.

good luck!

Probably an 02 sensor. Have your dealer check it out. If the 02 sensor goes it will default to a very rich map to keep from burning things up.

I have a '01 R1100S, and my dad has a '03 R1150RT. both bikes say 93 octane only, we've put reguar gas in it before... never did anything like that... But BMW has changed over the past 4 years....
