FOR SALE : 1998 HONDA CBR 600 F3
$3600 / OBO
Up for grab is my Red ’98 CBR600F3. It has just under 6000 miles I believe, (need to verify that), and is in great overall condition, as you would expect for a bike with such low miles. I picked up this bike in December of ’05, but the purchase of a new house, (and those pesky closing costs), mean it is time to sell her.
The good – As most already know, Honda definitely had it right with the F3. You can and will still find these monsters all over, whether they are tearing it up at the local track day, or carving a path through the twisties. It almost seems like they are unbreakable, which is a plus for both new riders and veterans alike. Powered by the standard 599cc, 4 stroke liquid cooled inline four, Sport Rider staff testing confirmed a whopping 87.2 HP at 12k RPM, with 42.8 peak torque at 10k RPM. Average fuel economy was 39mpg, with a dry weight of only 432lbs, (wet weight of 459lbs). This bike handles very well, and I couldn’t be happier with my time. I had the carbs broke down and re-synched due to getting gunked up from sitting too long, as is typical. That was less than 1500 miles ago. The front tire was also replaced at that time. The rear tire still has plenty of life on it. An under-seat locking storage compartment was added by the prior owner. Very cool.
The bad – All very minor, but I still want to mention. Right engine access panel was missing when I bought the bike, so I purchased one off eBay. It was a different color, so I sanded and did a quick flat black paint job. (Looks better than the purple from the SJE that it comes from…haha). There is a small tear in the back section of the seat, perhaps the size of a quarter. Some hairline scratches along the exhaust can. The bike definitely does not appear to have ever been down, so perhaps it was from being pushed against something in a garage? The third and final thing worth mentioning, is the rear center seat cowl section, (piece directly behind the seat, between both rear side fenders), is cracked at one of the mounting bolts. It is not obvious, and one of those typical fairing things that happen, but I just don’t see the point in buying a new one. I believe that is all, with the exception of the minor common rock chips and like. She’s in great overall shape, and needs nothing to go out and have fun.
KBB currently lists the value at $3830. Nada lists value at $3392. I’m sure these prices will start to go up a tad like always in the next few months as riding season comes around, just like usual. Snag this deal now. I am listing the bike for $3600, OBO. I feel this is a fair price given the condition of the bike and market conditions. I will certainly entertain OBO, but please, no low-ballers. Usual bike purchasing rules apply. No joy rides. Cash only, (no cashiers checks/M.O's, etc). Bike is located in NW Austin, (Parmer/McNeil Area). Title in hand. These are just a few pics that I have handy right now. More are avail, and I now have a 6MP cam that I can take specific shots of things as well if anyone wants.
Look forward to hearing from ya’ll.
