Default Tuono questions...

So I am ready to go up to a bigger bike, been riding an R-6 for years now, and looking at something a little more exotic, I have my eye on a Tuono R but the guy at the Dealership wants me to get a Tuono R Factory. I personally don't see much difference other than the colors and about 4 grand, anyone here ride one? What would you do? I like the color on both but I think I like the non-factory model better... I dunno mabey I'll get a Triumph...

The Tuono Factory has all Ohlins suspension, forks, shock, steering damper, OZ Racing Lightweight Forged Aluminum wheels and some carbon fiber pieces.

The Tuono R's Showa forks and Sachs rear shock are still very good, but not as good as the Ohlins. Since your coming from a smaller bike, the standard Tuono R is way more than you can use. Put the money saved towards some slip-ons and track days.

They are awesome bikes, you would LOVE it. Test ride one first if you can.

I've got a "base model" 2003 Tuono.... and it puts a smile on my face every time I throw a leg over.

Sure the Factory version is nice w/ all its carbon fiber, ohlins & OZ rims.... but whether or not it's worth the extra 4g's is purely up to your opinion & the size of your wallet.

I did get to ride the non-factory version and it was pretty awesome, but the guy didn't have a factory version on the floor and being as how I will probably rartely see the top end of the bike no matter what I get and my track days are few and far between (only one place that I know of to go here in kansas, and it's a four hour drive one way) i'd probably go with the base, I hear tell of a ten pound difference in the bikes as well, but again at 5 foot 11 inches and 190 lbs I doubt I would see a huge difference in the two.
