Question Question??

Ive got a question, I ride a 01 Mille R, and I noticed it eats some oil up from time to time. Im not talking about a quart of oil, more like less then half of a quart, Im just wondering is this common with the big V-twin motor, or should I go and get it looked at. It has 11500 miles on it, I bought it about 5 months ago with 4300, I love this bike, everything I rode before this was a Jap inline 4, and the switch has made me faster on the road and the track. Thanks for the input, if there is anything else you can tell me about the mille feel free to speak up. Thanks

when was the last time you changed your oil and how fast are you loosing oil.
the dry sump is had to get for most but you need to check the oil often to get a sence of where your oil is.

the last time i changed is was around 3000 miles ago, im going to do it soon, but I put the 1/8 of the quart in around 2300 miles, the oil pressure light didnt come on or anything, I just kinda noticed it after a long day of riding.

that sounds about normal but keep an eye on your oil level. take a look at this it will explain a lot about the dry sump oil system.

your welcome. i've own a ducati for the past four years and an aprilia for two years. so if i don't know what you need i might be able to stear you in the right direction. i had the tuono out on the track two weeks ago and the bike ran great. no problems. good luck with your bike.

Dont know if Ill ever put the Mille out on the track, I have a 01 GSXR 600 I use for that, its just I really want to see what the Mille can do, with all the components on it, mainly the ohlins suspension, but wow its a expensive fix maybe one day

the day i was out on the track there had to be at least seven or eight aprilias(mlles, tuonos, falcos and one RSV 250). im looking at a date in november to go back to track. the mille is a well built bike you should not have any problems.

I dont think I would have any problems with it, Im sure it would handle like a dream....its just that it would be a expensive low side or high side if it would happen. This weekend im going to Summit Point, only taking the GSXR, also GSXR parts are exteramly cheap, compared to mille parts

i've got 17,300 miles on an 02 falco and it doesnt use any oil, change it and the filter every 3,000 miles, talked with a guy who bought an 03 mille, he said his bike used a little oil during break-in period but hasnt had to add any since then.we dont do track days but we ride pretty aggressive on the the street about a 7/10ths pace. i want to live to ride again tommorrow.
