Good for him. He's really changed and matured over the years. He said the greatest moment of this season was the race at Nurburgring where he crashed but then picked up the bike and fought from last place to score points. He said when he was younger he would have just left the bike in the gravel and walked away, but now that he's older he was more calm and was able to turn a bad situation into a good one. He definitely deserves all he's earned.

Earl Hayden says that once he was sitting in Nicky's motorhome at a Jerez pre-season test when he heard a commotion outside—pounding on the wall of the motorhome. He walked outside expecting to find Spanish fans wanting to see Nicky, but instead found Nick with Max Biaggi pinned to the bus, warning him never to chop his front wheel again or the Kentuckian would give him a beating he would not forget. It bears mentioning that they were teammates and this was before the racing season had even started.
:eek:nfloor

Now that is a great mental picture right there. The Roman Emperor pinned by some Kentucky *******.

Love him or hate him, you have to respect his accomplishments. He was so more skilled at something we all love then any of us could hope to be.

If anyone hasn't read "Ring of Fire" yet, I highly recommend you do.
