How many pair did you try on before buying? Try on EVERYTHING you can lay hands on- even if you can't afford it or don't like the color. It never fails that you'll see an awesome deal on a forum if you look long enough.
The feel and fit of any piece of gear is extremely subjective. Icon in my opinion are not comfortable- neither are joe rocket, or shift for the most part. Alpinestars are better- most of them, but they run small. Cortech is all over the place. AGV is okay, but the materials are lesser than in A*.
Gloves will take time to break in. A lot of people say to order a size small enough to be painful, and deal until it's comfortable. I say, that's the reason you see so many threads about "The Gloves are GARBAGE." OF COURSE the seams burst- you crammed your meathooks into too small a glove. But I'm no masochist, and I don't have money to burn. I buy a size that doesn't put undue pressure on my fingertips or thumb, but isn't loose in the palm. I want to wrap my hand around a handlebar, and squeeze the levers without pain. Stiffness is ok- that will wear off.
THE BEST way I've found to break in a glove is to wear it through a rain storm. One or two good soakings where you ride a half hour or more- and don't strip the gloves off and toss them in a corner under dirty socks- is all it takes. Don't put them in a helmet or tankbag- set them on a shelf to dry naturally. Some people complain of leather dye leaching, but I've never had that problem.
I found my GP Plus on another forum for about half price. They were a bit snug and stiff at first, but not painful. Only gripe was the wrist strap didn't sit right. Wore them in the dry a few days and wasn't impressed. Wore them on a misty day and they got better. Wore them in a rainstorm, and after they dried, they fit perfect.
