Just make sure to inspect your monthly credit reports and shred any/all papers including any little bit of info on them.
Not saying identity fraud will not happen to you, but checking your credit card bill every month and looking for that odd "XYZ Store" with $20 billed on it usually throws up a red flag. Many people dont realize that some theifs with stolen credit cards use it very rarely and only make small purchases (less than 50$) so when people look at their creditcard bill, they dont think anything of it and pay it off.
