I can relate to an injury affecting your ability to hoist the boom stick. Bummer. Hope someday they can fix that up for ya.
By the same token...yeah, shooting a bunch of slugs would get painful really quick.

Yeah,back injuries are strange because EVERYTHING seems to be connected to your back in someway or another.
It's funny,or sad depending how you look at it. I can bench 185 -190 on a good day,but I can't hold my arms out straight,palms up and slightly behind my shoulder line without wenching from the pain in my shoulder after only a few seconds. That SUCKS!
