Didn't even bother. I just wanted to get it fixed and this seemed the quickest, hassle free way.
I am Canadian and purchased the bike in the US, so I didnt want the hassle of going over to the dealer I purchased it at to try and plead my case. I did call Yamaha Canada and since it is an AMerican bike they did not have my vin on file.
I may call Yamaha America and tell them what happened and see if anything comes of it. I am not to worried about it now though, bike is fixed.
