I believe State Farm places a premium on high CC bikes...which drives the price higher than say Progressive that doesn't use CC as a main factor.
I used to have Progressive...back when I was in my early 20's. Back then it didn't matter who I had for insurance...I still had to pay at least $1400/yr!! Now I have 2 bikes, 3 cars and a trailer with full coverage for less than that through Dave! The nice thing about Progressive if you ride the track is that they will cover a crash as long as it wasn't a competitive event (ie timed and scored). Accuity (who I have through Dave) will not cover anything that happens on the grounds of a race track (even if something happens in the parking lot). State Farm can go either way depending on what the underwriter had for breakfast that morning!
State Farm would be cheaper for my bikes, but when it came to cars and my home, Accuity saved me enough money to make up the difference.
