I was actually the VP of the amnesty international group in my highschool. I just did it because I needed some bull$hit to put on my college ap and I new enough people in it that I could probably get elected.
I still get emails from them years later occasionally. Personally, I think they are a good cause and overall do a lot of good/bring a lot of attention towards important subjects. However, there were just as many things I didn't agree with as I did, they were way too liberal for me.
I try very hard not to criticize organizations like amnesty that stand up for people who have no voice, even if their attempts are often flawed and a little misguided IMO.
But hey, I'm not in africa doing something about it so what right do I have to complain.
