You are, at that point, as dangerous on a bike as you will ever be. It is at that point you should re-evaluate, and take extra special care that you are not becoming complacent.
Give yourself another six or eight months and use that time to really focus on improving your ridership.

Mighty fine advice. We've all seen this scenario played out too many times. Rookie overconfidence can be a killer. Patience is a virtue. Enjoy the ride. Keep the rubber side down.
