You must have the most amazing metabolism rate ever if you're eating a powerbar for energy during the workout.
Unless you're talking about eating it an hour before or something. The sugars that are in it are what give you the quick burst (as energy drinks do) so if that's the idea... why not drink a Coke during your workout?
Goin Ape has got it right. It'd be better for recovery (assuming you're not eating it an hour or so before the workout).
Most meatheads I know don't eat anything pre- or during workout, but drink a shitload of water during it. Then they eat a protein-heavy meal immediately following.
I used to drink those ephedra-laden drinks during my workouts. Man did I shed pounds quick with that shit. Then afterward was a 40-50g protein shake in a can that tasted like a chalky cardboard slushie. I kind of miss those days, but I have a lot more quickness on the racquetball and basketball courts, now that most of my bulk is gone.
