Default did my first day at the range of my BRC (advice needed)

Hey everyone, I attended day 2 of my MSF basic rider course (first day actually riding bikes), and it was a fun experience. I felt natural and did well on almost all of the exercises, but I had a little bit of trouble with the weave. I had no problems with the wide cones spread apart, but the ones closer together gave me a bit of a problem.. I had to skip a few cones because I was out too wide and some of them I just couldn't seem to turn/lean the bike fast enough. The rider coaches said to keep your focus straight ahead since the cones were close together and could be seen in peripheral view, but I think I was doing that as far as I could tell. Does anybody have any advice on what I could do to get better at this particular maneuver?
