To add to fishnride's post. I would not recommend any of the Alpinestar SMX gloves for street riding. They are meant for motocross... in other words dirt riding. Additionally the SMX line of gloves is primarily textile... spend the extra money and get leather. All the major brands make short cuff leather gloves now.

FYI - I have the Alpinestar SMX4 gloves and switched to a Joe Rocket Supermoto leather short cuff glove. There is no difference in breathability and temperature, so spend the extra cash for leather gloves.
