Well I'm proud to say I'm a new FZ6 owner. Yep, ditched the GMC Suburban getting 10mpg in the city for my new ride.

It's been a few years since I rode my old 1980 Honda CB650 and I was a little nervous getting on my new ride with .4 miles on it. Gave it up when I got married and had my first son (I have four now). Wanted to be a Dad for awhile. After about 10 summers of me sighing as bikes went past, and watching gas prices go up, up, up, my wife could see I had the jones.

Did a little research on my own. Really, really, REALLY wanted a BMW R1150RT but not the maintenance costs. Read some great reviews on the FZ6 and some not so good. Needed a touring bike and wanted something with a little zip as well. Worked with an excellent guy at the dealership and settled on the Yamaha.

Picked it up last Friday and told the guy he had my permission to laugh his ass off when I ditched it in the little pile of sand taking it out.

That initial rush and blast of wind in my ears brought back all those old memories. Made even more special by the whine of my new FZ6. Next to religious man.

.4 miles was Friday. After today I have 88 on it. God I love this ride!

I've got questions and would appreciate the help. (Of course I will search the forums for the answers as well)

Q1 - What it the best tank protection to have? I've noticed some slight scuffing on the tank and would like to keep it clean

Q2 - I noticed in the front headlight fairing there seems to be areas for the turn signals to be placed. Looks like an easy mod. Can this be done?

Q3 - I love my FZ6 and plan to use it for commuting between work and home. There will be times I'd like to take my beautiful wife out to dinner or the movies. Can someone recommend a brand of disc lock or some other security that works well on the FZ6?

Glad to be a new owner and will keep up with the forum posting as long as I can be helpful to the new FZ6 owners.
