Smaller, lighter, quicker?

I don't think the specs listed here amount to enough change to tip the scale for the average rider. As a matter of fact most Japanese methods of measuring the above specs are always suspect and quite optimistic. When I start riding without fuel, lubricant, battery, or coolant; I will change may mind.

If you only want the 'quick' part, there are a lot of other bikes out there; or mod this one. ( I just lost 20lbs on a diet, what is that worth in ET?)

I think you may have missed a couple of differences that the average rider could apppreciate. The injection mapping and dashboard.
I just finished breaking in a new '07. I was hesitant to purchase the bike because some reviewers were not crazy about throttle response in '04-06.
My bike is perfect. Low and mid level throttle changes are quite acceptable.

As for the dash, I like the digital speedo. (no performance value)

If you are in the process of comparing the available leftover '06's and an '07, check over the very many threads already written on the issue. I would give a bit more credence to the folks that have ridden both. (I have not.)
I found that the benefits of the newer one were greater than the price break I would have received on the '06, that would have been around $500 locally.
That $500 is made up in the year newer resale value when I sell.

good luck,
Mike Cocorochio
