A friend of mine *cough* got a misdemeanor charge in AZ for disorderly conduct. Well, he lives in CA and based on the fact that he would have to travel to AZ just to plead guilty, then receive up to a $2500 maximum fine, he is going to skip the court date and just not go to AZ in the future.

This was a lawyer's advice. The lawyer said if he wanted to handle it, the lawyer fee would be $2k + he'd had to still pay the fine. The lawyer said a bench warrant would be issued for the state of AZ, but not nationally.

Anyone else ever skip a small criminal court date, or have any stories about it?
