Don't waste your money on the DVD to CD writing software.

Buy a DVD burner ~ $40
Buy DVD-Rs (slightly more compatible with stand-alone players, Ritek is a good brand) ~$35 for 100 discs

Download DVD Decrypter (Free, hard to find, but you can get it still at www.doom9.net)
Download DVD Shrink (Free)
Download Nero (not free, but you can get a trial or crack it)

Decrypt the dvd using dvd decrypter, this will copy it to a folder on your hard drive. Load up DVD shrink, point it to the folder on your hard drive, it will compress the video and you can then burn it to a DVD right from the program (if you have nero installed).

Very easy. Of course, I'd advise you only do this to make backups of DVDs you own, otherwise it's illegal End disclaimer.
