I think if you remove it the bike wont start or something. I have heard rumors of people having that thing trip while mid turn and their engine turning off. Some of the Gixxer people fill it with epoxy so it doesnt trip.

I would hate to be mid turn rolling on the throttle only to have the engine just die. Im glad my FZR doesnt have one.
