What do I look for in trying to determine whether a used race bike is a good deal? Do I look for upgraded suspension, etc? Does it matter what year it is? What are the important things to look for?

BTW, my budget is about 5 - 6K for the bike and all gear required to get started (leathers, trailer, etc.). Right now I am leaning toward GSXR600, R6, or F4i.
