Screwed by Memphis SHOP!!
This was my brother's bike.. I went with him to pick it up.. and all below is true.. This is what my brother posted on his forum
This will probabaly be a long one, but here goes...
Here's the sequence of events. Please note that I never received a call from the shop. I always had to call in and check up myself. Everything in quotes is what the shop mech. told me.
8/5 - I take my bike to Leos Cycle Shop on Summer Ave in Memphis for a valve adjust. He (the mech) said it would take a week or 2 because he was really busy and it would be $115 plus shims. So I left my ZR in the capable hands of "the nation's first kawasaki dealership" (so I've been told).
8/13 - I called and he hasn't started yet.
8/18 - Hasn't started yet, but "should get to it on Friday (8/20)"
8/25 - Hasn't started yet, but "should get to it Friday or Sat (8/28)"
8/31 - "Just took the gas tank off. I might need to order shims, but that will take overnight. "
9/1 - "Shims take 2 days to get in. Should be ready Thurs or Fri (9/3)"
9/2 - "Should be Friday or Sat. I'm sorry, I'll cut you a deal". I went out of town for Labor day.
9/7 - "I'm waiting on a gasket overnight".
9/10 - "I got the gasket today and should get it done by 5pm." I called at 4:45pm. "We are trying our best to get it done today, we'll call you if we do".
9/11 (2pm) - "Bad news, I put the timing chain on wrong and bent an exhaust valve. I lined it up using the marks on your Factory Pro advancer and found out that you can't do that. I'm so sorry. I have to order a new valve and it'll won't take long after that. It's all my fault."
9/13 - I take him the OEM ignition rotor to make sure he puts the chain on correctly.
9/17 - I didn't hear anything all week so I call. "Yeah, it's ready. I won't be here when you pick it up, but I'll leave it with somone." I go to pick it up and it's sitting in the parking lot with the key in it, unattended. I go in and the bill is $138. I told the lady at the counter that the mech said he was going to give me a deal, can I not get a discount? "No, I can't. I don't know what he did. I know he worked hard on it and he only charged you 1.8hrs labor." I told her that I know he worked hard, but that's because HE bent my valve and had to disassemble the top of the engine. I also told her that I have been waiting for 6 weeks. She said "You'll have to call him Monday and chew his butt out". I had no choice but to pay if I wanted my bike back.
I paid. I went out to start my bike and notice the switch had been left on...the battery was dead. I had to wait 15min to charge the battery.
When they got it started, I notice the generator cover and the cover just above that were scratched all to crap. I went back inside and told them. "You'll have to bring it back next week and I'll get him (the mech) to touch it up."
When I got home, I noticed my two bros pipe was scratched up pretty bad as well. Also, they put he band back on in a different place, so I have two sets of rub marks on the pipe now.
The bike seems to run good, but I can't see past the money, time wasted, and scratches. Plus, it's been so long, I can't remember what it ran like before, so I really don't know if it's better.
MAN!!! I should have just done it myself!!!!
STAY AWAY FROM LEOS IN MEMPHIS!!!
