Default 101: Gutting and Cutting stock exhaust (cbr 954)

Since last how to got deleted I found the pictures on my computer and will redo my write up.

Hope you all appreciate it.

Drill out rivets and remove end caps (there tight so it will take some force).

I cut my both ends of my can about, blue tape is an effort to not scratch it.

I also read it might be possible to just grind the metal where it’s folded over to remove the guts so my method may not be the best.

Take a mop handle and pound out the guts of the pipe.

The next pictures I ground down the inner caps until they just fit inside the sleeve.

Now u can see how I made my baffle.

I reused the old packing and then added more fiberglass I bought form the cycle store, its for re-packing dirtbike mufflers, it’ cheep and works good. Don’t know how long it will last but I did this mod several moths ago and it still sounds great and not any louder.

I used zipties and blue tape to hold everything in place so I could slide the sleeve over. Amazingly it never really smoked or smelled.

Since my new pipe is a little shorter I had to move my exhaust bracket down a little.

A little hitemp cyclone to seal everything.

Finished!
