Well, I just completed my third track day with STT. It was great!! I felt comfortable and fast. Everything was great except for an unfortunate ending to the day that some of you may be aware of.
I ride a 96 CBR600 F3. It is a great bike but I am wondering where it will limit me being almost ten years old. I use the bike for the street mostly and the track when I can get there, but I do not wantto be limited on the track. The bike has been modified with a D&D slip on,520 chain and sprokets, and steel brake lines. Thats it as far as performance parts. What do you think, Keep the bike? Upgrade the current bike? Where will this older bike limit me? |

Keep the bike. Throw on some rearsets when you start dragging pegs. Upgrade the suspension if you eventually find it necessary. You might get a faster lap time on a new Ducati, sure, but is the point to be faster or to become a better rider?

Thanks
Here's the thing, I am already dragging my peg, probably because I am about 200lbs and on a stock suspension that is somewhat setup (I did my best). I might pay for a pro suspension setup at my next track day but I think it would be best to buy an aftermarket shock before paying to get something dialed in right for me. And your right, I want to ride bettern not necessarily faster and I could never afford a ducati. |

if you are riding better, eventually speed will follow. your comfort zone will increase which will also increase the speed.
Keep the bike. I've seen some smoken fast guys on mid 90's bikes. They've just worked their suspension and such. |
